Illegal Machete Trailer Released

By Rudie Obias On May 5, 2010 At 7:32 pm ·

I was searching for a good reason to write this story up and I found a Criterion connection to it. Robert De Niro is in this movie and he was also in Terry Gilliam’s “Brazil” (Criterion #051). I’m very happy to be writing this up because this trailer kicks ass!!

Today being Cinco De Mayo, Robert Rodriguez released the trailer of his new mexploitation film, “Machete” via an exclusive from Ain’t It Cool News. The movie stated as a fun way to present a “fake trailer” to kick off the 2007 Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino partnership movie, “Grindhouse”. There has been some much buzz and fanboy love for this trailer that Rodriguez decided to make this into a full length, feature film.

This trailer is a double whammy as it also serves as a special message to the recently passed immigration laws in Arizona. Good timing on Rodriguez as this issue serves as the plot driving the story.

The film stars Danny Trejo as the badass Mexican, Machete, also starring Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez and Lindsay Lohan. The movie is set to be released on Labor Day weekend, September 3rd 2010. Very apt!

Note: The trailer embedded on our site is NOT from Ain’t It Cool News. We HIGHLY recommend you go to the source.

What do you think of this trailer? Are you now excited for this release? Or will it flop like “Grindhouse”?
