Spike Lee Wants You To Do The Right Thing: Drink Absolut Brooklyn

After joining forces with the likes of Spike Jonze and Jay-Z for two of this year’s most remarkable short films, I’m Here and NY-Z, it looks like it’s Absolut’s pride and joy, vodka, to get the filmmaker spin.

According to the New York Daily News, Absolut will be premiering a new drink, called Absolut Brooklyn, with noneother than Brooklyn’s proudest cinematic son, Spike Lee.

The filmmaker helped design the spirit’s bottle, which will feature a brownstone with the number 165 marked on it, the number of Lee’s former home in Cobble Hill. It will set you back $24.99, but will hit store shelves this week, a will sit there for the next four months. The drink itself is smacked with hints of red apple, and is part of a campaign from Absolut that sees the liquor giant donating $50,000 to Habitat for Humanity in hopes of building new affordable homes in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Personally, while Lee himself has had a mixed record cinematically, not only does this drink actually sound quite delicious, but throw in the great cause that it’s for, and you have something that those legally who can, should go out and pick up. Also, hopefully this is just one step in many that Absolut will make into the world of film. Here’s to hoping we find out something about a DVD release of the aforementioned short films. Fingers crossed.
