Disney Releases iPad Application For Viewing And Purchasing Movies, Now Where Is Our Criterion Collection App?

If the iPad wasn’t already worth some money already.

According to THR, Disney has released a movies app for the monster tablet, which allows users to purchase movies from iTunes, DVDs through Amazon.com or other retailers, as well as view trailers and buy movie tickets through Fandango. This joins the 850,000 downloads for the ABC player, which was introduced three months ago.

While the idea of buying tickets and viewing trailers through an application isn’t the newest thing, or the idea of watching movies, let alone Disney films, on a tablet doesn’t quite make this any more worthy of my money in my opinion, I know that for many, this will be great news. I also think that it’s only a sign of things to come, particularly as online streaming and things of that nature rise in popularity. This is only another step forward for that type of deal.

All in all, this won’t make me by an iPad, but if I do, it sure as hell won’t be any less awesome of an application.

Check out our post from a few months back, discussing what we’d like to see in a Criterion Collection iPhone / iPad application.

  • Of course there`s nothing surprising or special in such apps, but anyway I`m glad Disney has released it at last. Why not? I think all major film production companies should launch something like this, just to confirm their leader status at the modern movie market.
