About The Criterion Cast

Ryan Gallagher [posts] [contact]

Painter, philosopher, cinephile, and obsessive-compulsive internet addict. Having fled sunny, Southern California for the grey, rainy Pacific Northwest, Ryan has lots of time indoors to learn about CSS, podcasting, and other fun internet miscellany that frustrates his partner to no end.

Ryan is the Editor In Chief, spending many a late night crafting each post before it goes live.

You can find his own, poorly maintained blog at RyanGallagher.org, follow him on Twitter. You can also find Ryan on Mubi.com

Travis George [posts] [contact]

Born and raised in Carteret County, a seaside community in North Carolina’s Outer Banks. In 2005, he made the inevitable twentysomething’s pilgrimage to Portland, Oregon, where he studied American Sign Language and otherwise busied himself with the various cultural curiosities of the Pacific Northwest.

In 2006, he began (inadvertently) to watch solely the films of the Criterion Collection. His marathon came to completion on June 18th, 2009 (at 477 films), and he continues to remain current with the new releases His arrangements and social relationships have suffered greatly.

Travis has recently returned to the beach of his beginnings, and makes his living on the road with Horse Feathers, checking in when he is not otherwise undulating in the sinful, debaucherous and godless subculture of Indie Folk.  Follow him on Twitter.

rudie bio pic

Rudie Obias [posts] [contact]

Screenwriter, podcaster and blogger living in New York City. He’s a graduate of Cleveland State University (2003); he was a student of Philosophy, Political Science and (of course) Film. He is also a mediocre musician.

On first appearance you’d think Rudie was just another hipster from Williamsburg; well, you’d be wrong, he lives in Bed-Sty. He has an obsession with v-neck & button down shirts, tote bags, NPR and bars in Brooklyn. Visit his personal blog at RudieObias.com, or follow him on Twitter, or find Rudie on TheAuteurs.com

James McCormick [posts] [contact]

Forged from steel, spare cogs and nerd, James comes from the distant future to share his geek wisdom with all of you out there in the interwebz. If it’s been made, he’s watched it, read it, ate it and processed it in a million ways to present to you the most thought provoking wordgasms you’ve ever seen.

Joshua Brunsting [posts]

Born in Saugatuck, Michigan, Josh Brunsting has been a fan and lover of the medium that we call film since day one.  Currently a Journalism major at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI, Josh has now turned his love of any and everything related to film into what will hopefully one day become a career, culminating in complete world domination.  Josh is currently a writer for GordonandtheWhale.com, as well as Associate Editor of DVDsnapshot.com, and even has time to have a girlfriend, a job at a local movie theater, and a golden retriever named O’Malley.

David Blakeslee [posts]

Destined to be a Criterion collector from the moment he saw The Man Who Fell to Earth as an impressionable fourteen-year-old in its initial theatrical run in 1976, it took a few decades for the virus to fully kick in. Several years ago he began a full-brain immersion into the Criterion Collection catalog and since January 2009 has dedicated a great portion of his leisure time to watching and writing about his experiences. You can follow his progress on the Criterion Reflections blog, where he reviews the films in their original order of release, or right here in his weekly Journey Through the Eclipse Series. When he’s taking a break from his movie habit, he works as a professional skills trainer for a non-profit social service agency, participates in the peace & justice activist scene in Grand Rapids, Michigan and hangs out with his family. You can also see him discussing miscellaneous topics on the monthly public access program, IGE Talks. Contacts: Email Facebook:  Twitter: DavidBlakeslee and CriterionRefs
