Criterion Packaging: Akira Kurosawa’s Throne Of Blood – Dual Format Release

Throne Of Blood Packaging Header Framed

On January 7th, the Criterion Collection will release their new dual-format re-release of Akira Kurosawa’s Throne Of Blood.

There are a lot of adaptations of Shakespeare out there (heck, there are a several in the Criterion Collection itself), but few approach the greatness of Throne Of Blood.

Bill McMullen’s cover for the Criterion Collection edition of Akira Kurosawa’s Throne Of Blood is one of my all-time favorites. The striking combination of red, black, and white is perfect. The clean lines. The side-glance. I love it.

Over the past year I’ve posted all of our packaging shots of the Criterion Collection Blu-rays on our Tumblr, but in 2014, I plan on moving back into the main site, and posting these types of things here more often.

Pre-order the dual-format release on Amazon.
