Contest: Win A Free Streaming Rental Of Werner Herzog’s Cave Of Forgotten Dreams From SundanceNOW

Last week the folks over at SundanceNOW announced that they’d be streaming Werner Herzog’s latest 3D “documentary”, The Cave Of Forgotten Dreams, as a rental before the DVD or Blu-ray is released.

We’ve been able to score a free rental of the film, that we’re going to give away to one lucky reader.

Here are the rules:

  • Head over to Facebook and “like” our fan page, as well as the SundanceNOW page.
  • Once you’ve “liked” both pages, go ahead and leave a comment below, indicating that you’ve done so, and why you’re interested in this film.
  • I’ll pick a winner at random on Friday, August 5th, and alert the winner with their rental code.

While the Cave Of Forgotten Dreams won’t be a Criterion release (according to a forum rumor from earlier this year), it’s still one of the more important, and successful documentaries this year. It’ll be interesting if they end up releasing the film on 3D Blu-ray, or if they’re just going to keep it in 2D for the home video releases.

Have you already seen the Cave Of Forgotten Dreams? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

  • I’m friends with both SundanceNow and CriterionCast on facebook. My name is Lenny Crist. I’d like to see Cave of Forgotten Dreams streaming because I saw it once in 3d (I had to drive 3 hours to the nearest theater showing it), but 3d gives me a headache and i wasn’t able to fully enjoy it. Since then i’ve gone and seen 4 other Herzog movies, and now I want to re-experience Cave in a more ideal (for me) setting.

  • This along with Scorsese’s upcoming Hugo will (in my opinion) singlehandedly decide whether or not 3D is ever considered a legitimate cinematic art form. These two films will set the future of 3D. I have been very reluctant to embrace 3D in any other forms than what I previously thought it should be; a gimmick (Piranha 3D, Dial M for Murder). But with Herzog on board (especially since one of his most recent films My Son My Son What Have Ye Done? was my favorite in years) I am intrigued and ready to see what he has in store for us. My name is Will Morris.    Â
