‘4 Months, 3 Weeks And 2 Days’ Director Cristian Mungiu To Helm New Exorcism Thriller

With a Criterion release of his beloved film, ‘˜4 Months, 3 Weeks And 2 Days’ seemingly on its way (or at least rumored to be the case), it’s about damn time that director Cristian Mungiu makes his long awaited return.

Deadline is reporting that Mungiu has found his next project, a genre film that is ‘set in an Orthodox convent in Romania, the story centers on a young woman’s descent into madness, her subsequent exorcism and the police investigation it sparks.’

Now, as a huge fan of his last film, this sounds like something really special.   I love the idea of Mungiu taking on a genre film like this, and with his distinct sense of realism, this could be something genuinely creepy and genuinely frightening.   Religious-based horror films always have some added sense of creepiness to them, so with this gifted a filmmaker behind it, that should only be the case even more so.
