BBC Short Documentary On In The Mood For Love Cinematographer Christopher Doyle Hits The Web

Throughout film history, there are matches made in absolute heaven. One of those, prior to their alleged falling out, happened to be the career defining work done by cinematographer Christopher Doyle and director Wong Kar-Wai.

Pairing up for films ranging from In The Mood For Love to Chungking Express (even the beautiful 2046), the duo may have gone their separate ways, but their work together has been some of the best visual work seen in all of cinema of their generation. And now Doyle is getting his day in the spotlight.

As part of BBC Two’s The Culture Show, Doyle plays as the inspiration for a nine minute short documentary that looks at Doyle, his work, and even visits his home in Hong Kong. Taking them around various locations seen in the pair of films mentioned above, the short segment is a really intriguing look at one of today’s foremost directors of photography. Criterion hounds will flip for this, if in spite of its relatively short length.
