Brad Pitt Joins Steve McQueen’s ’12 Years A Slave’

Well, this sucker just got a tossed on everyone’s radar, at least in a  populous  sense.

According to Screen Daily, the biggest actor in the world (well, arguably at least), Brad Pitt has joined the cast of Steve McQueen’s next film, 12 Years A Slave.   Slated to star Michael Fassbender and Chiwetel Ejiofor, Pitt’s company Plan B has been trying to get this project off the ground for a while now, and while it remains to be seen as to what role he’ll be taking on, this definitely makes the project all the more interesting.

Following the story of a free black man who is tricked back into slavery, the film is based on a 1853 autobiography of Solomon Northrup, and is far and away one of the more intriguing projects currently in some stage of projection.   The cast here is absolutely fantastic, and McQueen is one of the best young directorial names around. Summit will be handling the sale of the film at AMF in November, so don’t expect this one to be lying around for too long.   The film should start production in 2012.
