Criterion Launches New Hulu Series ‘101 Days Of Summer’ With Debut Of Harold Lloyd’s Speedy

Now this is how you ring in the summer.

Because you needed another reason to adore The Criterion Collection, the company has kick started a new series entitled “101 Days Of Summer,” in which they will add new films to their Hulu Plus channel, and make these new additions free to any and every person on the internet, subscriber or not, for 48 hours.

And what’s the first film they launched? Well, while it may not be free to the general public any longer, the company has made available Harold Lloyd’s fantastic comedy, Speedy, as well as, more recently, Robert Altman’s Secret Honor. Both films are now available to stream on Hulu.

Personally, as a rather open fan of Harold Lloyd’s the addition of his picture is beyond exciting. It’s a great film, and will likely be Criterion’s next release/Janus Film’s next touring restoration. Altman’s film is absolutely fantastic as well, but with Lloyd being a blind spot for many cinephiles, the addition of him to Hulu is rather thrilling.

Oh, and as of Monday, the page has been updated with Sam Fuller’s The Steel Helmet.

Check out Criterion’s Hulu Plus page for more additions as they come.
