David Gordon Green Writing And Directing Time Travel Romance ‘Q’

It’s about damn time we see something like this from one of the indie film world’s biggest names.

Prior to jumping into Hollywood fare like Your Highness or Pineapple Express (both of which this writer find rather deplorable), David Gordon Green made huge waves with films like All The Real Girls, Undertow, and this little gem you may have heard of, George Washington.   And while his recent output has been upsettingly poor, that may be changing.

Variety is reporting that Columbia has nabbed the novel ‘˜Q’, for the director to both write and helm.   The film will follow the story of a man who is visited by a future vision of himself who tells the present man to not marry his wife.   Listening to his future self, he must deal with the regret that lies within his decision.   Sounds like a logical step for the director of The Sitter.

Joking aside, a return to more dramatic fare, and even romantic filmmaking, is more than welcome.   Green’s recent releases have been underwhelming, but this sounds like a real gem.   I have not read the novel, but the premise sounds insanely interesting, and just the type of project that Green could absolutely knock out of the park.   What do you think?
