DVDs Of Lincoln Heading Out To Every Middle And High School In The US

Participant Media has announced that, as part of their upcoming campaign entitled Stand Tall: Live Like Lincoln, the company will be doing something rather unprecedented.

The company, which teamed with DreamWorks and Fox to produce the Steven Spielberg-directed historical drama, will be releasing DVDs to high schools and middle schools around the nation, both public and private, as soon as the film arrives on DVD.

Each copy will come along with a teacher’s guide, pointing educators in the direction of informative and insightful discussions surrounding the film, Lincoln himself, and what he has become historically.

As a big time fan of the film, I think this is absolutely fantastic news. I think this film is not only one of best motion pictures of the last year, but also one of Spielberg’s most subdued and ultimately enthralling pictures since something like Minority Report. People have begun saying what this may do to the film’s Oscar chances, but at this point, who truly cares? Sure, it may get the conversation going back in the film’s direction, but it’s interesting to see the company get behind a rather monstrous and seemingly expensive venture like this.
