George Lucas’ Original Take On The Star Wars Heading To Dark Horse Comics

starwarsheader

While this may scream false, particularly given its odd date of announcement, apparently Dark Horse Comics and LucasFilm have become so close, that they are set to bring one to store shelves a tale only thought of as a rumor lost to history.

Dark Horse has announced that they will be adapting George Lucas’ original draft for Star Wars, entitled The Star Wars, in the form of an eight-issue series launching in September.

The story revolves around a young Jedi named Annikin Starkiller, a general by the name of Luke Skywalker and even features a character named Han Solo, but instead of a dashingly handsome rogue, he’s a six foot tall lizard. Again, I know this sounds like an April Fool’s joke, but the parties involved assure us all that this is as legitimate as anything around. And I couldn’t be more interested.

Personally, as a fan of the universe, I couldn’t be more excited to really see what Lucas had originally intended for his story of lazer swords and Sith knights. The series will launch this September, but it’s been in the works for what appear to be years now, so expect a lot of news on this front to come relatively soon. I know I’m looking forward to it.
