Despite critics saying that the film would be nearly impossible to release in any sort of theatrical manner, apparently IFC Films have found themselves a real gem coming out of this year’s now complete Sundance Film Festival.
Deadline reports that the distributor and Criterion beau have nabbed up the rights to the Stanley Kubrick documentary ‘˜Room 237.’ A film looking into the ‘real meaning’ of the beloved Kubrick horror film ‘˜The Shining,’ the film takes a look at the possible meanings behind the film ranging from widely discussed theories, to a theory that it was Kubrick’s apology for working on the ‘faked’ moon landing event.
The film will hit theaters and VOD later this year, and honestly, I hope that somehow, this film ends up in the Criterion Collection. It’s a film looking at both a piece of cinema and the criticisms of that said piece of cinema, so it could be a really great addition to the collection. Plus, Criterion loves them some Kubrick, so, who really knows?
What do you think?
