IFC Nabs Noah Baumbach’s Frances Ha

From being revealed completely out of nowhere to now being grabbed up by one of the biggest distributors around, the life of Noah Baumbach’s latest film, Frances Ha has been beyond interesting.

With huge notices coming out of its run during this fall’s festival series, the film, Baumbach’s seventh, has been picked up by IFC who will be releasing the black and white Greta-Gerwig staring-feature film.

The film follows an aspiring dancer as she attempts to finally become independent in her life and in her career. The film co-stars Adam Driver of HBO’s Girls, and with huge buzz coming out of its festival run, expect to hear a ton about this film going forward. A fall/winter release is likely, but what’s more intriguing is its home entertainment possibilities, as bunk buddy The Criterion Collection is obviously a fan of Baumbach’s, so given the strong praise, a Criterion Blu-ray of this film seems possible if not entirely likely. Personally, I’m a huge fan of the director, so I’d love to see him return to Criterion and this sounds like a perfect fit. However, that’s far off, so here’s to hoping that we’ll be getting to see this thing relatively soon.
