Isabelle Huppert, Denis Lavant And David Cronenberg To Star In New Film From Luca Guadagnino

That’s right, we’re about to witness what is basically the art film world’s version of Ocean’s 11.

Coming off of three of the best works in their respective careers in 2012, director David Cronenberg and actors Denis Lavant (Holy Motors) and Isabelle Huppert (Amour) are all set to star in a new film from I Am Love helmer Luca Guadagnino. The film, an adaptation of Don DeLillo’s novel The Body Artist (author of Cosmopolis which was the source for Cronenberg’s film of the same name), will star Huppert as an artist whose life changes when she meets a mysterious man. Lavant will likely star as that man, with Cronenberg going out of his comfort zone, starring as a film director. Shocking, I know.

The picture is heading to Berlin to be shopped around, and will hopefully get rolling sometime in the middle of this year. I’m a huge fan of all three involved, and while we haven’t seen Croneberg act in a while, it will be exciting to get him back in front of the camera, opposite two brilliant thespians. Lavant is a master actor, so hopefully this will become something really special.
