Jay Baruchel Joins David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis

While the film’s cast has been somewhat of a revolving door, it appears as though things are really settling down.

Deadline is reporting that actor Jay Baruchel has joined the cast of David Cronenberg’s upcoming film, Cosmopolis, currently slated to star Robert Pattinson, Samantha Morton, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti, Mathieu Amalric and Sarah Gadon.

The film, based off of the novel penned by Don DeLillo, will follow a young man who ultimately loses his fortune betting against the Yen over the span of a day, that also sees him cheat on his recently married wife, and also ultimately stalked.   Baruchel will play a man who founded the company Pattinson’s character works with, an also acts as his conscience.

Cosmopolis is a film that’s been in the works for quite some time, and has seen names like Colin Farrell and Marion Cotillard, but now seems to have finally found its footing.   With the cast wrapping up, the film should be relatively close to getting into production, so expect much more news on this quite soon.   Personally, I’m not a huge fan of Baruchel as an actor, but his involvement with this film is quite interesting.   I think this is going to be one hell of a film, and will be a proving ground for a rather maligned actor like Pattinson.   There is a great cast being built here, and one that I think Cronenberg could really work well with.
