Juliette Binoche And Mathieu Amalric Joining David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis

Now the question remains, how much longer until they leave the film?

With the door continually seeming to revolve with regards to the cast of David Cronenberg’s upcoming film, Cosmopolis, the next two members of the film’s cast have apparently been found, and it’s one hell of a duo.

ScreenDaily has revealed (via The Playlist) that Juliette Binoche (who will next be seen in Abbas Kiarostami’s Certified Copy) has joined the film, with C7enma reporting that Mathieu Amalric has also signed on to join the film’s ever growing cast.

Based off of Don DeLillo’s book, the film follows a 24 hour span in the life of a newly wed billionaire who cheats on his wife, gets stalked, and ultimately loses his fortune within that relatively short span. Apparently the latter source also confirms that composer Howard Shore and DP Peter Suschitzy will be returning for this film, so production does seem to be ramping up.

The roles for these two have not been confirmed, as their involvement has not been confirmed by the studio involved neither.   However, with shooting set to start on May 24 in Toronto, things should be moving forward relatively fast.

Overall, with stars Robert Pattinson (the film’s lead) and Paul Giamatti (the stalker), this film sounds really fantastic.   I love Cronenberg as a filmmaker, and while it remains to be seen what role these two will play (I’m assuming that Binoche will either be Pattinson’s wife, unlikely that may be, or the woman he cheats on her with), you really can’t go wrong when it comes to choosing a great cast.

What do you think?
