New Details Arrive For John Woo’s Flying Tigers

After sitting on the shelf for years now, it appears as though director John Woo’s next project may have finally found a new life.

THR is reporting that the film, entitled Flying Tigers, will be backed by the dual producers of Cyrte Investments and China Film Group, and will be arriving in theaters in two separate parts, and on TV as a six hour TV miniseries. The film follows the story of a group of American pilots who volunteer in the Chinese Air Force, only to fight Japanese forces as he start of WWII arrives.

The film is set to start shooting come early next year, and as of the last time we heard of the film, IMAX was being talked about as possibly getting some play here, as well as Woo’s intention of tapping star Liam Neeson to head the film’s cast. Personally, this sounds like a perfect fit for Woo, and if Neeson is still very much attached to the project, this should make for something really interesting moving forward. We’ll have more about this as it arrives.
