New Trailer For Ken Loach’s Route Irish Hits

With his classic film, Kes, set to join the Criterion Collection in April, Ken Loach is back with a new film, and we have the first trailer for the hotly anticipated project.

Thanks to The Guardian (via The Playlist), the first real trailer for his latest film, Route Irish, has hit and while it doesn’t quite look or feel like a truly ‘Loach’ picture, but it does look really good, despite looking like a much more straight forward thriller.   The film does reteam Loach and cinematographer Barry Ackroyd however, so there is a lot to look forward to here.

The film follows a man, Fergus, who must go on the hunt for answers after his friend Frankie is killed on the road from which the film draws its title.   Starring Mark Womack and John Bishop, the film received a bit weaker reviews than one would have expected, but I still have the highest of hopes for this film. Loach is a massively talented filmmaker, and has been for decades now, so I’m going to expect nothing less than greatness from this really interesting projet.

It hits UK theaters on March 18, with a stint on VOD the same day.
