Oscar: Two Clips Hit For Lore As It And A Handful Of Others Submitted For Best Foreign Language Film

With the festivals now all but behind us, the fall film season is in full swing, leading ultimately up to the big night next year, Oscar Sunday. However, before we get to that point, the foreign film category has to whittle its way down to just five nominees, which given this year’s collection of films, may be a tougher job than previously thought.

One film vying for gold next year is the Australian film, Lore, and with the film being announced as Australia’s Foreign Language Film entry, two new clips have also arrived.

The picture is helmed by Cate Shortland, and follows the story of an SS officer’s daughter following WWII who flees to her grandparents’ house with her four siblings. It’s a German language film, and with reviews appearing to be quite solid, this could prove to be a major player this year. Music Box Films has the feature, which still doesn’t have a release date, but that will likely be changing rather soon.

Other films joining it on the Oscar list? Aside from the previously revealed films from Michael Haneke nd Young-hi Yang, you have new films from Cristian Mungiu entitled Beyond the Hills and Lasse Hallstrom (The Hypnotist) as well as the awesomely titled Cannibal Vegetarian which is Croatia’s entry from director Branko Schmidt.

We’ll have more announcements as they come.
