Owen Wilson Joins Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice

Talk about coming out of nowhere.

As the film ramps up its production schedule, The Wrap is reporting that A-lister Owen Wilson will be joining the cast of Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice, joining the likes of Joaquin Phoenix and Benicion Del Toro.

Could this be the actor’s Punch Drunk Love moment? Paul Thomas Anderson’s great film proved that, while it may have been fleeting, Adam Sandler was at one time a great screen actor, and while Wilson challenges himself more often with films like The Darjeeling Limited, he has been on a bit of a slide, seemingly epitomized by the dreadful-looking The Internship. The film, based on the beloved Thomas Pynchon novel, sounds like a superb project and one that looks to be an interesting step forward for every party involved. With WB firmly behind the film, this may be another deeply interesting project from one of today’s greatest filmmakers in Paul Thomas Anderson.
