RoboCop Remake Gets A New Release Date

While people may be in a tizzy over the lead character’s design and whether if works or doesn’t, the long talked about reboot/remake of the iconic Paul Verhoeven film RoboCop is still very much on its way.

Box Office Mojo has just revealed that the film will be leaving its August 9, 2013 spot (now held by the Neill Blomkamp film Elysium), and will hit theaters on February 7, 2014.

The film is being helmed by Jose Padilha, and while the early year spot may seem negative, more and more studios are using February to dump off some of their big projects, such as next year’s A Good Day To Die Hard.

Personally, while there is a lot to be turned off by here, Padilha is a talented filmmaker, and overall, this is a film that could really use an update. I think that there is quite a bit of potential here, and hopefully it will live up to that come 2014.
