Roman Polanski To Direct Venus In Fur

Apparently director Roman Polanski is rather infatuated with the world of theater. With his last film, Carnage, being an adaptation of a play from writer Yasmin Reza, the filmmaker is heading back to the stage for inspiration for his next film.

Polanski is set to direct a new film entitled Venus In Fur  with David Ives aboard to co-write the screenplay from a play of the same name that Ives penned, following the story about a writer/director looking to create his latest play. The film will star Emmanuelle Seigner and Louis Garrel, with a start set for November.

Personally, while I was admittedly mixed on something like Carnage, Polanski is still one of the film world’s biggest names making this one hell of an interesting project. With what would have to be a Cannes debut likely (or at the latest Venice?), expect to hear quite a bit about this project when it starts rolling. It sounds like an interesting look at life on the stage, and hopefully Polanski can give us something a tad more vital than his last effort.
