Shout Factory Launches Horror Line, Scream Factory

While they have made their name in genre fare like  99 And 44/00s Dead  and their entire Roger Corman collection of releases, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for Shout! Factory to launch their own horror line. And now, thankfully, it has finally happened.

The company announced that in September, the brand will launch Scream Factory, a new ‘home entertainment series created to celebrate some of the most enthralling horror and sci-fi films with massive cult followings in cinematic history.’

The first slate of films will include  Halloween II, Terror Train, Halloween III: Season Of The Witch, They Live, The Island, The Funhouse, Phantasm II, Deadly Blessing  and  Death Valley.

Obviously, the most exciting releases here are the anniversary release of  They Live  and the Tobe Hooper film  The Funhouse. I love both films unconditionally, and really think that Shout is a perfect company to release new versions of these classic titles. Toss in some Wes Craven, a Michael Caine vehicle and the DVD debuts of both  Blessing  and  Death Valley, and you have a fantastic little start for a company that is sure to make waves in the horror and sci-fi world for years to come.

What films are you most excited to see? Here’s the press release:
