Steven Soderbergh To Direct The Bitter Pill Next

Talk about coming out of nowhere.

With all of this talk of retiring and the cavalcade of projects he has on his slate, The Playlist has revealed that it’s something wholly new that director Steven Soderbergh will be helming next.

The outlet is reporting that the director will helm the upcoming film, The Bitter Pill, as his next film.   Penned by The Informant scribe Scott Z. Burns (who also wrote Contagion and the script for The Man From U.N.C.L.E.), the film follows ‘people and their moods. It’s about how we as a society can’t tolerate sadness and what that makes us vulnerable to.’

Personally, this is amazing news.   Burns and Soderbergh have proved to be something of a great team, and hopefully this will keep Soderbergh away from retiring.   He has a ton on his slate, and it only keeps growing (despite bailing on UNCLE), so one can hope, right? The premise sounds immensely interesting, and with the team collected here, this thing is bound to be something truly special.
