TCM And Sony Teaming For New TCM Vault Collection DVDs

While they may not be as extensive of releases as we Criterion hounds are accustomed to, the recent rush of TCM DVD collections have been utterly fantastic.   Be it B-movie horror from the likes of Hammer films, or actor-centric sets around the likes of James Cagney, they are really great little sets, at great, low prices.

And we are getting even more.   TCM has announced that they are teaming with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment for new TCM Vault Collection DVDs.   New sets will include a five film set focusing on Humphrey Bogart, a set of cartoons from the United Productions of America’s Jolly Frolics series and even a four film, Jean Arthur set.

Personally, all of these sound great, but it’s the Frolics set that this writer is most interested in.   Classic cartoons haven’t truly gotten their just due on DVD, and with TCM behind this set, that should more than change.   Obviously the Bogart set sounds great, as does the Arthur set. Toss in an upcoming noir set created alongside with The Film Foundation, and you have a slate of DVDs that is really just too good to be true.

What do you think?
