TCM And Universal Teaming Up To Bring Two Classics From Josef Von Sternberg And Marlene Dietrich To DVD

Now this is how you start off a week.

TCM has announced that they will be teaming with Universal Studios Home Entertainment to bring us a two disc set entitled ‘˜Marlene Dietrich, Directed By Josef von Sternberg,’ which will find two of the most sought after films from the pair’s canon.

The set will include ‘˜Dishonored’ as well as ‘˜Shanghai Express,’ both of which will be making their debut on DVD, and will feature fully restored prints and re-mastered audio.

Released through the TCM Vault Collection, the set joins the likes of a wonderful Douglas Sirk set as well as a really interesting Pre-Code box, as part of a fantastic lineup that TCM and Universal have given us throughout their partnership.   Supplements include photos, lobby cards, posters and allegedly more, but you can find out for yourself as the set is currently up for sale through TCM’s online store.   Both ‘˜Shanghai’ and ‘˜Dishonored’ are a pair of Sternberg films I’ve been dying to see, particularly after digging through the Criterion Sternberg box set, which is a masterwork of home entertainment. Personally, this is an absolute must own, so I’m simply going to stop talking and run out and buy this thing.   Seriously, why are you still reading this? Head over to TCM to pick up this set, as soon as you can.
