The Master Is Heading To Venice

I think it’s about time any of us stop trying to make expectations about just what will be happening with regards to this film.

After Paul Thomas Anderson’s next film was rumored to be hitting Austin for Fantastic Fest, The Master subsequently missed the first wave of announcements from both Venice and Toronto, only to find its release date shoved up an entire month. However, despite all of our voices saying that it wasn’t set for a festival run this year, that is apparently not going to be the case.

Deadline is reporting that the film will play on September 1 in Venice, and also stating that a showing at TIFF this year isn’t out of the cards. Already one of the year’s biggest releases, a festival run would make this film an absolute monster, one of 2012’s early players for major awards come the conclusion of 2012.  What will without a doubt become one of 2012’s most talked about films, The Master will bow on September 14.
