Trailer Arrives For Harmony Korine’s SXSW-Bound Spring Breakers

With the reveal that it would be part of the already amazing slate of this year’s SXSW Film Festival, a new trailer has hit the web in anticipation of the release of Harmony Korine’s latest effort, Spring Breakers, and while it’s a bit more kinetic than the seemingly existential and brooding clips we’ve seen, it still hints at something really special.

Starring James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez and yes, beloved trap rapper and a personal favorite hip-hop auteur of mine, Gucci Mane, the film follows a group of young girls who, after getting arrested while on spring break, are set free by a local rapper only to become part of his world.

A score from Skrillex and Cliff Martinez accompanies this film, and while it’s easily his most mainstream picture to date, there are certainly flourishes that feel inherently Korine-ian. Neon-fueled photography abound, this film looks as vibrant and a complete 180 from the brilliant lo-fi stylings of the director’s last outing, Trash Humpers.
