WB And Legendary Pictures Tap Oscar Nominated Directing Team For Spectral

spectralframed

From Oscar nomination to possibly huge blockbuster, so is the career trajectory for the team of Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg.

Not the household names you’d imagine grabbing big projects for a big studio, but with an Oscar nomination now in the books for the pair and their film, the Best Foreign Language nominee Kon-Tiki, Deadline reports that the duo are being hired by Legendary Pictures and WB for their upcoming film Spectral.

The same studio behind a film like Pacific Rim, Legendary is behind some of the biggest recent blockbusters around, including Chris Nolan’s Batman films, so this is one hell of a coup for the rising team. The film is penned by Ian Fried, and is being pitched as a “supernatural Black Hawk Down.” Whatever the hell that means.

Personally, while I haven’t seen any films directed by this team, the idea of them taking on a film with that description as its pitch is really exciting.  Given the fact that the team is an Oscar nominated one truly makes me anticipate anything that they take on, and this sounds like an absolute wonder.
