New Trailer For Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy Hits

While the upcoming Tomas Alfredson film Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy may have only the loosest of Criterion Collection connections (it stars Gary Oldman, star of Alex Cox’s Sid & Nancy), one can’t help but get excited for it after seeing a trailer like the new one that has just hit the web.

Oldman leads the film’s cast, but it’s quite an ensemble, including Tom Hardy, Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ciaran Hinds (Life During Wartime), Mark Strong, Svetlana Khodchenko, Toby Jones, John Hurt, Stephen Graham  and  Kathy Burke.   Tinker follows the story of a man pulled out of retirement to hunt down a mole within the highest of the ranks of MI6.

Directed by Let The Right One In helmer Alfredson, this film is starting to look more and more like the one must-see film from this fall slate, and with these trailers, one can’t help but get excited for this film. The song used during the trailer, for those wondering, is Magneto’s theme from X-Men: First Class (entitled ‘Frankenstein’s Monster’, I believe), and from the music to the pacing, this trailer is utterly amazing.   One of the best trailer I’ve seen in quite some time, November 18 can’t get here fast enough.

The film will premiere at Venice later this month.

  • Joshua,

The Criterion Connection may not be so “loose”. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is penned by John le Carre, who also penned the Criterion release The Spy Who Came In From The Cold.
