Well, this is as far from shocking as a news story could really get.
Even in the face of new competitors in the world of online streaming, and in the greater world of video rentals, a Citi research report (via New TeeVee), citing comScore data, reports that due primarily to the ever growing catalogue the site has in its Watch Instant lineup, visitors to the website have increased 46% from this time last year.

People site the ever expanding selection of online films, and honestly, I can’t help but agree. To me, the major thing keeping this company a float has to be their online selection. Sure, I use their mail service, and did prior to watch instant, but without that, I would be stuck with forgetting to mail back my discs, as so many people I know did prior to the online growth. Now, while we all still use the mail order service, I don’t know a single person who uses Netflix, but not their online streaming.
Actually, I know people who have lowered their subscription, simply because the mail order side of the company is a little more tedious than either renting from a brick and mortar store (no sense of urgency to watch something), or turning on your computer to watch something. Honestly, the only thing the company could really do to expand their service is to bring back the ability to buy DVDs.
