Wes Anderson Themed Art Show To Highlight Daddy Issues Through Paintings

Anyone who has gone made it through the filmography of Wes Anderson can certainly pick up on the fact that he certainly is working through his father issues on the screen. From the Royal Tenenbaums to the Life Aquatic, to the recent Fantastic Mr. Fox, Wes Anderson loves to show us morally questionable fathers.

This is certainly an issue that I grapple with in my own life, and enjoy seeing it played out to artistic extremes through Anderson’s films. Apparently I’m not the only one though, as the folks over at Spoke Art are putting together an art show at the LoPo Gallery in San Francisco at the end of October. I came across the Life Aquatic image (from minimalist movie poster artist, Brandon Schaefer) below from our friends at Super Punch, which led me to the images further down, at the Spoke Art website. I’m linking to larger images, so you can see how incredibly talented these folks are.

If you live in San Francisco, definitely check out this show once the paintings are hung, and let us know what the rest of the pieces look like.

What other filmmakers from the Criterion Collection would you like to see celebrated in a similar manner? Leave your thoughts in the comments below. Don’t forget, The Darjeeling Limited hits stores next Tuesday (October 12th), on DVD and Blu-ray, and it’s one you won’t want to miss!
