65th Cannes Film Festival Line-Up Announced

Well, well, well, it’s finally here.

Thursday brings with it the reveal of what feature films will be playing this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and boy oh boy is it one hell of a lineup that will be lighting up the Croisette this May.

As far as the big players set to hit the festival are new films from the likes of Wes Anderson and Claude Miller, whose films Moonrise Kingdom and Therese D (Miller’s final film) were not only pre-announced, but will open and close the festival respectively.   New additions include Killing Them Softly, a new film from Andrew Dominik, beloved auteur Abbas Kiarostami’s upcoming film Like Someone In Love,  all of which will be making their world premiere at the festival.

Long rumored festival debuts include Cosmopolis from David Cronenberg and On The Road from Walter Salles, as well as the recently nabbed up return for Michael Haneke, Amour. Shocks? Well, there are a few of those here too.   As a huge fan of Alain Resnais canon, You Haven’t Seen Anything Yet is a happy addition here, as is Jaques Audiard’s Rust And Bone even though to say that that sucker is a Croisette shock is far from true.   Toss in a strong American contingent with films like The Paperboy and Lawless and you have a huge Cannes turnout that should make for one hell of a festival.

Here’s the full lineup. What are you looking forward to most? We will have a more in depth look at the festival lineup this weekend!
