  • Hey, hope you got the idea that Blu-ray and dvd region codings are two different things: you cant easily get dvd-region free blu-ray player, but not the other way. Blu-ray's region coding is today still very much like it was in the first dvd players, costful hardware cracking needed. At the moment I guess it's still cheaper to buy another player than crack the Blu-ray RCE. That's also shame to need American Blu-ray player to play Criterion discs, but maybe things are changing some way or another.

Also, Great Britain is region 2 with rest of the Europe (+ Japan) in dvd regions, not region 3.

Thanks for the tip of Trailers from Hell!

  • Thanks Sahhmi for the comment. I'm still a little hazy about the logistics of region encoding for Blu-ray vs. DVD, and how one goes about circumventing those technologies. I know about hacking firmware (I tried it on my old HD-DVD player), but I haven't tried it yet on a Blu-ray player.

Also, on a side note, thank you so much for being such a loyal listener all these months that we've been recording. I know really early on you would reply to us on twitter, about our sound quality, and its so amazing to see that you're still with us. You deserve a prize of some sort!

  • Oh well! I think I've heard every episode (excluding the recent Lost-special), you're making a good podcast to listen while I'm commuting between home and work. Beside sound quality, some things have gone better and some things haven't changed much – like iTunes podvcast is download is stuttering and needs to be refreshed several times for complite one podcast. Dunno why, other podcast are coming smoothly.

Altogether, your podcast is nice to follow, though I'm not personally intrested about the summer movie part. :D And I'm also in the same whiny group that says the most of variations of a theme movies are too familiar and new. But, the age doesn't mean nothing if the perspective is fresh. It would be pity to see you guys shift to talking even more about new/mainstream movies than the ones Criterion collection is ment for.

Just Announced!
