Alex Karpovsky may very well be independent film’s next big thing. With a starring role in HBO’s Girls and a handful of films he’s either directed or starred in making the rounds, yet another film with his ever present name attached to will be having its world premiere at this year’s SXSW Film Festival now only a handful of days.
Co-starring Jonny Mars, Adriene Mishler and Chris Doubek, the film follows the story of Leigh whose 29th birthday party goes south when she reveals that this will “be the last time her friends see her alive.” It’s from Austin director Sean H.A. Gallagher, so the SXSW crowd will be out in full force, and with Karpovsky’s name firmly in the conversation, it’ll be hard to find a hotter ticket for the Narrative Spotlight section.
A new trailer has dropped for the film, which hints at the film’s sense of humor and aesthetic, so you can check that below as well as the dates for the film’s screenings at SXSW. The festival starts Friday.
