SXSW Announces Closing Night Film, Adds More Sundance Darlings To The Lineup

sxswframed

With one final announcement, this year’s SXSW Film Festival lineup has been finalized, and it’s going to be one hell of a year.

The festival’s closing night film has been announced, and it will be none other than director Zal Batmanglij’s The East, a film teaming himself back up with his muse and co-writing partner Brit Marling. The film debuted at Sundance this year, and was an absolute knock out, as is the case for the fellow Sundance films revealed as part of the lineup here, including The Spectacular Now and Ramin Bahrani’s At Any Price.

Other films announced here include the documentaries Muscle Shoals, Pussy Riot – A Punk Prayer and the intriguing sports documentary Linsanity. All of these films seem interesting, and with the lineup already chock full of must-see pictures, this is shaping up to be one of the better SXSW lineups in quite some time. Hope they can all live up to the hype.
