David Fincher Heading To Fox To Helm Gone Girl Next?

davidfincherframed

While he may not be overly prolific, director David Fincher may very well be one of the busiest directors working.

Disney has him hooked up for their pending adaptation of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, and with his second film in the US take on the Millennium Trilogy somewhere on his docket (allegedly) it may be neither of these pictures that the director crafts as his next feature.

Variety reports that Fox is interested in bringing Fincher aboard to direct the Reese Witherspoon-produced Gone Girl, an adaptation of the Gillian Flynn novel following the story of a woman who disappears only to have the main suspect be her husband.

The report hints that Leagues is still a possible contender for his next film, but The Girl Who Played With Fire is beginning to look less and less likely as not only his next film, but anywhere near the top of his to-do list. I think that, while this film sounds immensely interesting, I can’t help but think that Played With Fire is the one film I’m interested in seeing him do. I adored Dragon Tattoo, and think that his voice fits this universe like a really dark and brooding glove.
