First Viral Footage From Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim Hints At Something Truly Epic

It may still be a handful of month’s away, but the promotional campaign for director Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming action epic, Pacific Rim, has kick started with a new viral campaign.

Arriving in theaters on July 12 of next   year, the film stars Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba and, of course, Ron Perlman, and follows the story of a team who must battle a series of massive beasts by using a collection of robots known as Jaegers. These Kaijus take center stage in this new footage, a collection of new broadcasts from around the world looking at the damage done by these beasts.

The footage itself doesn’t really give us much to ponder about the actual film itself, I think this is still quite interesting. The film looks to be epic in its scope, which while not all that shocking, the scale looks massive and in that, color this writer excited. I think Del Toro is obviously one of this generation’s foremost voices, and this type of action film deserves the most original of auteurs behind the camera.
