Jane Campion To Head 2014 Cannes Film Festival Jury

Earlier tonight, the Cannes Film Festival announced that Jane Campion (Sweetie, An Angel At My Table) will preside over this year’s Cannes Film Festival (May 14-25, 2014). Campion won the “Golden Coach” award at last year’s festival, along with leading the Short Films Jury.

From the press release:

“Jane Campion is in fact the only female director to have won the Palme d’or, for The Piano in 1993, having already garnered the Short Film Palme d’or back in 1986, (for Peel) – a unique double in the history of the Festival de Cannes.”

Sweetie and An Angel At My Table are currently available on the Criterion Collection’s Hulu Plus channel. You can also currently stream Campion’s mini-series, Top Of The Lake, on Netflix.
