Jane Campion To Head Cannes Short Film Jury

campionframed

With director Jane Campion making a home at the Cannes Film Festival, the multi-award winning filmmaker will be returning, this time as a jury leader.

The festival has announced that Campion will be heading the Cinefondation and Short Film Jury at the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival.

A winner of the short film Palme d’Or herself, as well as the feature length award for her masterpiece The Piano, the director will be heading up this festival’s short film jury, an honor held by names like Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Martin Scorsese.

Personally, I love this news. I think Campion is one of today’s greatest filmmakers, and while it’s been a minute since we’ve seen her behind the camera, hopefully her new miniseries Top Of The Lake will be up to the par set by her canon. Even her last film, Bright Star, is something of an absolute wonder, and one of the more interesting films to hit in quite some time, that no one seems to talk about.
