Jeff Nichols And Michael Shannon Re-Teaming For New Sci-Fi Project At WB

nicholsframed

Nothing like seeing a great relationship finally get some respect outside of the indie world.

WB has not only tapped director Jeff Nichols to direct a yet-to-be-named sci-fi project for the studio, but they have decided to team the filmmaker up with his cinematic right hand man, actor Michael Shannon, for what appears to be one of the studio’s most interesting projects in production.

Described as a “present day sci-fi chase film,” the picture sounds similar to a film Nichols has been chatting about for a while entitled Midnight Special, and while little is actually known about the film, this should be exciting enough for anyone with a pulse. Shannon and Nichols have had their hands in a trio of fantastic films in the form of all three of Nichols’ directorial efforts, and if his latest, Mud, is any sign, he is becoming one of today’s most interesting American filmmakers. Toss in a big studio budget behind him, and we’ve got nothing but the highest of hopes for what sounds like a real doozy of a blockbuster.
