Jerry Lewis-Starring Max Rose Goes In Front Of Cameras

jerrylewisframed

It’s been a week of long gestating projects finally getting some momentum, apparently.

With Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity getting a release date, comedy icon Jerry Lewis is finally set to return to the big screen with his first leading role in over 30 years with a new picture entitled Max Rose.

The film, which was allegedly shopped around at Cannes a few years back, has finally gotten some financing and will be getting in front of this week.

Penned and directed by Daniel Noah, the film will star Lewis as a pianist who goes soul searching after the death of his wife reveals that their time together may not have been all that he previously thought it was. With a cast including Kevin Pollak and Claire Bloom, the film has been waiting in the wings for a while now, but has picked up quite a bit of steam lately.

And that’s thrilling news. Lewis is a comedic legend, and it’s this type of introspective performance that historic acting turns are made. I would be even more interested in seeing this if Lewis were the man behind the camera, but this freedom from the actual creation of the film may make for an even more engrossing performance. Expect this sucker to come out after a festival run sometime next year. Maybe a debut at TIFF this year?
