Michael Fassbender Leads Macbeth Adaptation From Justin Kurzel

fassbenderframed

With Shakespeare adaptations seemingly coming at us once or twice a year, a new adaptation of one of the Bard’s greatest works has the film world truly buzzing.

Screen Daily is reporting that star Michael Fassbender and director Justin Kurzel (Snowtown) are teaming up to bring us a brand new take on Macbeth. Penned by Todd Louiso and Jacob Koskoff, the film will be reportedly a new adaptation, but using the original dialogue and setting.

Now, don’t expect to see this one anytime soon, as Kurzel is very much attached to a new adaptation of John le Carre’s Our Kind Of Traitor, but this is easily one of the more exciting Shakespeare adaptations in some time. I think Kurzel is an immensely talented filmmaker, and with Fassbender aboard to star, this is going to be a hugely intriguing project. Hopefully this will be able to find footing quicker than we expect, but again, this appears to be quite far away from being shot, but that shouldn’t stop anyone from getting their expectations sky high.
