Noah Baumbach’s Frances Ha Gets A Release Date

IFC, home to various festival darlings and best buddies to The Criterion Collection, have apparently made the end of the work week a fruitful one.

The distributor has announced release dates for two of these ‘darlings,’ two films from two of today’s foremost art house filmmakers.

First up, they have announced that Noah Baumbach’s latest film, Frances Ha, will bow in theaters on May 17, 2013, as well as revealing that Abbas Kiarostami’s next picture, Like Someone In Love, will hit on February 15 of next year as well.

Baumbach’s film has become one of the festival circuit’s most talked about films, being seen as something of a return to form for the filmmaker, and while reviews for Kiarostami’s feature are a bit more mixed, it’s one of next year’s most anticipated foreign films. Given their relationship to IFC and these two filmmakers in particular, don’t be shocked if you hear rumors floating around about Criterion nabbing up the rights to release these on home video. Personally, I think the Kiarostami film seems less likely (reviews have been mixed, but so where responses to Certified Copy, so who knows), but with the Baumbach film getting huge buzz, that seems like almost a sure thing. Hopefully, anyways.
