With this year’s Cannes lineup appearing to be one of the bigger lineups in recent Cannes history, one of the biggest debuts will be from directors Joel and Ethan Coen.
Entitled Inside Llewyn Davis, the film will bow when the festival commences next week, and while most of us will have to wait until the film’s December 6 release date, there has been a new trailer to hold us all over until then.
The film stars Oscar Isaac as a journeyman musician looking to break out in the ‘60s folk scene. Co-starring the likes of Carey Mulligan and even Justin Timberlake, the film looks to be a muted step into the past for the brothers, who have tapped Across the Universe photographer Bruno Delbonnel to shoot the film. I think this trailer looks absolutely gorgeous, and honestly, with Roger Deakins taking a back seat to Delbonnel, this looks to be a really interesting project for the brothers Coen. The cast is top notch, and Isaac looks to give a career-defining performance here. The type of role that makes an actor’s career, this is something this writer truly cannot wait to check out.
