Shane Carruth Sets Upstream Color As His Next Film

He may not be a Criterion Collection director, but frankly, he should be.

His debut film being the time travel masterpiece (and in this writer’s eyes, the greatest film the genre has to offer) Primer, Shane Carruth is both one of the most enigmatic filmmakers around, as well as being one of the most talented.   And now we know what his next project will be.

CHUD is reporting that Upstream Color will be his next project, and will shoot in 2012.   Not much is actually known about the film, but while Carruth has been working on a film called A Topiary for some time, the nearly 300 page script is apparently too much, and has made way for this sucker.

As mentioned above, I’m a huge fan of Primer, and fully think that it should be released by the Criterion Collection.   It’s a masterful time travel film, and this one could be just as great in its respective genre.   What do you think?
