So much for a peaceful retirement.

Deadline is reporting that the continually busy Steven Soderbergh, whose “last” film Behind The Candelabra is set to hit HBO this very Sunday, is heading to Cinemax for a new TV series.

A 10 episode series, the show is titled The Knick, and will follow a collection of surgeons and nurses in NY at the turn of the century. The show will star actor Clive Owen as well, making this an immensely hot project for the small screen.

With the report stating that he will in fact direct every single episode, this is proving that maybe Soderbergh’s own admittance of retirement may come with a catch. He may be done bringing people things to the big screen (even though his HBO film recently stole the show at the Cannes Film Festival), but apparently he’s far from done creatively. As a Soderbergh fan, I think this sounds like a superb project, and Owen’s involvement as the lead is really just some icing on the cake.
