Steven Spielberg Lines Up American Sniper As Next Project

So now, apparently, the truth is truly coming to light.

Seemingly hours ago, actor Bradley Cooper jettisoned himself from the now officially defunctional production of the now Gavin O’Connor-helmed Jane Got A Gun, and it’s for a damn good reason. THR reports that Steven Spielberg will next be helming an adaptation of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, American Sniper, with Cooper attached to star in the film.

The film will follow the story of Kyle, the most prolific sniper in American military history. With problems arising back at home in many things, his marriage most notably, the project sounds right up Spielberg’s alley.

Personally, I think this sounds superb. This is a bit of a change of pace for Spielberg, and most certainly a step in an interesting direction for Cooper, an actor who is really proving himself to be one of the more interesting A-list talents around. Also interesting to note is that yes, this will be the filmmaker’s next project, throwing something like Robopocalypse completely into question. That was long talked about as his Lincoln follow-up, but that is now officially off the books. Hopefully that project isn’t dead as it too sounds quite intriguing.
